The momentum behind Drupal 8 is growing, and Deeson Online have been playing their part...

We in the Drupal community probably know something about Drupal 8 – even if it's just that we're aware it's coming!

But how do you clearly and simply highlight the benefits of Drupal 8 to a non-developer audience, or those beyond our community?

We are always keen to open our doors to work experience students, but we don't usually get the opportunity to share their time on this blog. We've decided we need to change that!

Introducing Bethany Nelson, Year 10 student from Langton Grammar School for Girls, Canterbury, Kent. Here in her words are ten things she learned from her time at Deeson Online.

Look alive! DrupalCon Amsterdam is going to be here in no time, and Deeson Online are once again a proud Silver Sponsor of what is shaping up to be a rather spectacular event.

Possibily the most significant date in the European Drupal community diary, DrupalCon Amsterdam will not only offer all the usual mix of community summit, sessions, BOFs and sprints, it also has some very impressive keynotes, including co-editor of Boing Boing, Cory Doctorow.

Wednesday's Digibury at The Gulbenkian was once again a great evening of talks, discussions and presentations. Plus there were plenty of new faces in the audience, which was fantastic!

Talk #1: Howard Griffin, University of Kent - moving the immovable

Project Conway is an interactive collaborative education project between Deeson Online, The Beaney House of Art and Knowledge, and the University of Kent’s TinkerSoc and School of Computing. It will be exhibited at The Beaney in Canterbury from Saturday 12 July, running until Sunday 20 July.

What is Project Conway?

We're all set for Weds July 9, 7.30pm Digibury at The Gulbenkian with three great talks lined up

Talk #1: Howard Griffin, University of Kent - moving the immovable

The development of digital projection technology has enabled urban-scale projection to become bigger, brighter and arguably more immersive.

June saw the start of Digibury talks videoed in full - something that we've been working towards for a while.

It's a great way to share the talks beyond the evening itself, and we hope it will be the beginning of a Digibury talk 'library' - adding context and detail to the slides that we always publish.

Our inaugural videoed talks were given by the fantastic Emily Guille-Marrett and Hajan Memon.

Wednesday's Digibury at The Gulbenkian was a bit of a special. As part of the evening we had two talks followed by an education-meets-tech discussion. It was a great night, with lots of opinions and views - and plently of audience participation! A video of the discussion will be published on this blog in the next week or so, but in the meantime, here are the main areas of discussion:

Well Austin, it was a blast. The sessions, the BoFs, the sprints... the lot!

For those who missed the great big Texan extravaganza (or anyone who went and just wants to do some reminiscing!) here for your enjoyment are a handful of choice picks from the awesome five-day Drupal love-in.

We're delighted to announce that Digibury has been shortlisted as a Finalist for 2014 Culture Awards in the One to Watch category.

What are the Culture Awards?

Hold on to your hats! Have we got news for you... and a date for your diary!
