Digibury: 3D printing in action

By Lizzie Hodgson | 11th July 2013

What do you get when you put polylactic acid, a spool and an extruder together? Just the hottest bit of kit going at the moment: That's right. A 3D Printer.

But it's not just us that thinks that. This partcuar 3D printing bonanza also drew a record crowd to Canterbury Christ Church Student Union, home of Wednesday's excellent Digibury.

After the usual compering by organiser Simon, the awesome Justin Carpenter from Active 3D took to the floor. Within minutes we were witnessing the creation of the Digibury logo and a vase. Yes. A vase.

Justin - who's company builds the printers in Kent - brought not one, but two, each quietly printing away as the night progressed. And the throng was enthrawled.

The evening was all about watching. And touching. And immersing ourselves in the creation of... well, stuff. But sometimes words don't cut it...

So check out the pictures. And this Vine... enjoy.
