From Google to Porchlight: have they got a story for you...

By Lizzie Hodgson | 17th April 2014

We're all about sharing here at Deesons. Which is exactly why our sister company, Deeson Creative, has organised an amazing communications knowledge-sharing event on 28 May.

It's primarily aimed at those in communications, marketing, social media and digital. What's more, it's free!

Socialbury: The background

For the past six months, we've been running a monthly knowledge-sharing event called Socialbury.

At the invite-only session, senior people working across communications, digital marketing and social media meet to learn and share from each other.

It's Chatham House Rule, but non-attributed insights and lessons are shared with a wider audience following each event. Discussion topics to date have included social media campaigning and internal communications challenge.

Greased Lighting (Talks)

On 28 May, 7.30pm at The Gulbenkian, University of Kent, Canterbury, senior professionals from six organisations will each give a Lightning Talk – a fast-paced, dynamic presentation – on a specific topic.

Speakers have ten minutes and 20 slides to share their stories and messages, which means less waffling and more action. If you want a better idea of that we mean, take a look at this.

Who and what

  • Google: Putting people at the heart of your services
  • Turner Contemporary: From zero to a million visits in three years
  • University of Kent: Letting go of control to reach your audience
  • Canterbury City Council: Talking rubbish – getting 68,000 households onto a new bin system
  • South East Water: How Twitter saved Christmas
  • Porchlight: Keeping awareness fresh after 40 years

Sounds good, doesn't it?

So if you work in communications, marketing, social media, digital advertising, community management and digital – in-house professionals, agencies or freelancers alike – simply register and rock up 7.30pm on Wednesday 28 May.
