Brian Dury

Brian is the volunteer Schools Liaison Officer (SLO) for the Kent Local Network of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. Through this role, he is a STEM Ambassador and a member of the Kent & Medway STEM Advisory Forum. He has now retired from full time work, after spending some 40 years in the telecommunications industry. Brian started as an apprentice and after 4 years in technical grades was promoted to a level one engineering manager responsible for exchange planning of major switching centres. Over the years, he moved around the industry gaining experience of various engineering duties and achieving further promotions. For the last 10 years of his career, he owned British Telecom’s £100m/year exchange development (new hardware/software) programme.
